Series S1 - The Centenary

As part of the celebrations for the University Centenary in 2009, holders of the Diploma of Loughborough College awarded by the pre-University constituent colleges were invited to receive honorary degrees of Loughborough University. The Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO) appealed to such alumni to write down their memories of the time they spent at Loughborough. Many responded and their accounts were typed up. Both original and copied material like photographs, posters diaries etc, often accompanied the student memories and were used in an exhibition on campus when the honorary degrees (in the form of a commemorative medal) were awarded in two special degree ceremonies in July and December 2009.

All this material (apart from items too large or not suitable for scanning) was recorded electronically and can be found on a CD (see D146-1). The original correspondence, memoirs, and many of the accompanying items were presented by DARO to the University Archive and were originanly marked and listed under collections D146 and D130 (an accruing collection of alumni donations transferred as received by the Alumni Office independently from the centenary appeal).
